Rate-4/5 4-ary modulation code for 4-level holographic data storage systems

This paper presents a 4/5 4-ary modulation code design for 4-level holographic data storage (HDS) systems. The multi-level HDS systems, capable of far greater densities than traditional technologies, are regarded as one the most promising candidates ultra-high-capacity optical devices. Significantly, systems promises to provide best solutions cloud services. Yet, significantly disturbed by many challenges, such two-dimensional (2D) interference, blur effect, and misalignment. proposed is designed based on 4-step procedure, where codewords at output encoder can avoid not only effect worst 2D interference but also obtain minimum distance between two arbitrary 0.47, which larger conventional 6/9 code. Simulation results demonstrate that proposal gains about 1 dB better 10−9 bit error rate.
